Psychological Immigration Evaluations

Trauma-Informed Mental Health Assessments from a Culturally Rooted Lens

As a formerly undocumented immigrant and bilingual Latinx therapist, I know firsthand the emotional weight, fear, and resilience that lives within the immigration journey. I offer comprehensive Psychological Immigration Evaluations for individuals navigating the legal immigration system who need mental health documentation to support their case.

These evaluations are not just clinical assessments—they are an opportunity to be seen, to be heard, and to tell your story with dignity and truth.

    • For survivors of domestic violence by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident spouse or parent.

    • For survivors of human trafficking, including labor and sex trafficking.

  • Asylum

    • For individuals fleeing persecution, violence, or fear of harm in their home country.

  • I-601/I-601A Hardship Waivers

    • For those seeking to demonstrate that a U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse, parent, or child would suffer extreme hardship if the applicant is denied residency.

A Safe Space to Share Your Story

I understand that sharing your story—especially if it includes trauma, abuse, or persecution—can be deeply emotional. My role is to create a compassionate, culturally responsive space where you feel safe to speak freely, without fear of judgment or retraumatization. I approach every evaluation with empathy, care, and a deep understanding of the systemic challenges immigrants face.

Whether your trauma stems from violence, separation from loved ones, or the constant stress of survival, you deserve to be treated with humanity and respect.

What to Expect in the Evaluation Process

  1. Initial Consultation We begin with a brief phone or email consultation to determine whether I’m the right fit for your needs and timeline.

  2. Clinical Interviews Evaluations usually involve 1–2 sessions (approximately 2–4 hours total), conducted in English or Spanish, in person or via secure telehealth.

  3. Psychological Testing (if needed) I may administer culturally appropriate screening tools to support the clinical impressions.

  4. Comprehensive Written Report After our interviews, I will write a detailed report documenting your mental health history, current symptoms, trauma impact, and how it relates to your immigration case. This includes a trauma-informed summary specifically written for immigration attorneys, judges, and USCIS.

  5. Optional Collaboration with Your Attorney With your written consent, I can coordinate with your attorney to ensure the evaluation fully supports your legal strategy.

Why These Evaluations Matter

In many immigration cases, the psychological toll of trauma, family separation, systemic oppression, or fear of deportation can be profound—but difficult to explain in legal language.

A well-written psychological evaluation:

  • Humanizes your case by capturing your lived experience and emotional reality

  • Provides expert documentation of diagnoses like PTSD, depression, anxiety, and trauma-related disorders

  • Supports your legal team with a compelling narrative that aligns with case requirements

  • Gives you a voice in a system that often tries to silence or erase your pain

I’ve completed hundreds of evaluations over the past decade—especially for Latinx, BIPOC, immigrant, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. My personal and professional experience allows me to approach this work with deep empathy, cultural sensitivity, and clinical precision.

A Personal Note from Rosa

I came to this country from Peru when I was just two years old. I know what it’s like to grow up navigating fear, silence, and the ache of uncertainty. These evaluations are my way of holding the door open for others who are walking a similar path.

Tú mereces sanar. Tu historia importa. And you do not have to walk through this process alone.
